Front Foglight Problem

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone.
My first introductory post so I hope this is ok to also ask a question here.
I have a Mondeo Mk4 2014 plate and recently have been experiencing battery drain. Found that my drivers side front fog light likes to turn itself on by itself. No dash light or switch activity happening. I tired to find a fuse to pull to stop this happening and can’t locate one on the fuse boxes for this year according to diagrams. F13 fuse in the box under glove compartment is identified for earlier years up to 2010 but nothing for my year. So I’ve had to disconnect the battery to turn off the fog light, let it cool then take out. That’s caused a further problem in that the radio code wasn’t supplied to me by the dealer last year when I bought the car so when they manage to answer the phone or return my numerous calls to them I may get that issue resolved.
Could anyone shed some light on how to best progress this strange fog light issue. Some searches point to the BCM possibly needing replacing! Hope not but if so I expect at some cost. Wondering if I also need professional auto electrician to take a look or if I can rule anything out myself with some advice from your good selves. I need to point out that I can do limited electrical work but I don’t have much more that a circuit tester and basic tools in the box!

Thank you in advance.

Glyn

Is it definitely a parasitic drain and not just a failing battery?

Connect a multimeter up to the battery in series and see what amps the car is pulling with everything switched off and doors shut. Under around 100milliamps is pretty normal. Otherwise start pulling fuses one at a time until the reading comes down. Once you have identified the circuit at fault you can go from there.
