Bad vibrations

Featured Replies

Hi

I have recently bought my pre-facelift MK3 Focus ST and have noticed an occasional wobble from the car. I can feel it whilst driving sensibly and when the engine is idling. Have googled the issue and now have as list of possible causes which are fuel filter, spark plugs, timing, hoses, engine mounts. The car was serviced before I bought it but the plugs and fuel filter weren't changed so I gonna change these and see if that helps. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you fix it?

Could well be the torque mount get the one from the efocus it should reduce it significantly. Mounts on the mk3 are known to be rubbish.

The fuel filter can be ruled out.

The Focus MK2/MK2.5 and MK3/MK3.5 Petrol versions do not have a replaceable fuel filter. There is only a strainer (with relative large mesh) inside the fuel tank at the inlet side of the fuel pump. This strainer is part of the fuel pump & sender unit and is not available as a seperate spare part. The strainer is considered to be unserviceable and does not have a specified changing interval.

Thanks for the advice. Might try taking it back to the dealership to be checked out as it's still under warranty however I'm half expecting them to say they can't find a problem.

I did find it a bit odd that couldn't find a fuel filter when I looked on eurocarparts. Will most likely still change the plugs anyway, if it doesn't help atleast I'll know they've been done.

The phrase to look out for is, "yep, they all do that Sir..." LOL

You mentioned it’s only when driving “sensibly” you feel it - surely the answer is just to never drive sensibly? Works for me

After waiting for 6 weeks to for the dealers to check out my car they did indeed say that they didn't notice any vibration.  Frustrating but not surprising.

Why, when @JW1982 has already explained that your car doesn't have a "fuel filter" in the traditional sense?

I was saying that I found not being able to find a replacement fuel filter odd before I posted on here. After reading JW1982's message I understood why.
