Hi all,

Looking for help on the best way to get a replacement key for a Ford Focus.

I have seen prices of £150 or so from Ford themselves and was wondering if there was a cheaper way to find replacements?

When you say, 'replacement', can you clarify, have you totally lost the original key, or just need a spare? (different answer for both as you can program a spare from original...)

Ford just outsource keys to auto locksmiths. Cut out the middleman and go straight there to save a few quid.

Bummer, pretty sure that means a visit to Ford, unless your local locksmith has access to a database with VIN number and proof of ownership, feel your pain... (Bring your wallet!)

If you do this, would be interested on what price they quote you, a year ago, I was quoted £230, still makes me smile!

Not all Timpsons do car key coding/programming.

I've started shopping local where I can now rather than big national brands. Generally find the one-man-band places (such as locksmiths) to be much more friendly, helpful, and sometimes cheaper on pricing. I guess when you're working for a big company on not much more than minimum wage you ain't going to give a toss ah.
