Mondeo Mk4 1.6 ecoboost 2012 - turbo oil leak

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hope you are doing well. I have a Mk4 Mondeo 1.6 ecoboost with 100k on the clock. It has been recalled a few times for the clutch and the coolant issue where they have replace the whole coolant system.

However since this has happened i am loosing a fair amount of oil. I had a 100k or 8 year major service 3 weeks ago and was told the car is in not too bad condition. I was hoping they could tell me about the oil leak etc. but nothing was said.

I took the undertray and had a look myself and it seems to be leaking from the turbo. It could be from somewhere above the turbo but it's hard to remove the heat shield covering the turbo to see it leaks from somewhere above it.

Can you please ask from some advice from some of the more experienced guys / gals (please see also attached pictures):

1. Is the turbo on it's way out?

2. also there is a hose that has an open end (to the right of the turbo which can be seen from underneath the car. Is this normal as it is not connected to anything...

Thanks,

Chris
