Noise from front passenger wheel

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I had front passengers coil spring replaced at a garage as it was broke. The garage said it would also fix the creaking noise well it did briefly and now that's back so that's the shock absorber.

Now I'm hearing a squealing noise when turn right. I tried it on my driveway with brakes and turning right get squealing.  I tried it in flat car park tonight with no braking and it's squealing turning right.

Any ideas guy's?.

Thanks

I've took my car to Kwik fit today and they heard the squeaking noise in car park and looked on ramp and came back with low tyre pressure, the car still squeaks.

It's mostly on right turn but happening little bit on left turns.

Do any you guys know what it is i had coil spring replaced front passenger and the shock still creaks on front passengers side and it's only since this work been done I'm hearing a squeak.

I've checked power steering fluid it's full. I've turned wheels full lock left and full right on driveway and don't hear it.

Any ideas

Thanks everyone.

My advice is don't take it to Kwikfit (or any other national garage such as Halfords). They're all as useless as a pet rock...

I would say check the ball joints or the strut bearings.

I would say that is a cliche, I have used KwikFit for over 30 years, for replacement tyres/exhausts etc and other bits, they are as good as any 'garage' and much cheaper. Their A/C service is excellent in that if they do a recharge, and it doesn't improve the temperature by a pre set target, you get a full refund - try doing that with your Ford dealer!

It's easy to knock these places, but it does depend on the training of your local one. Many use professional mechanics with decent all round knowledge, others just get the in house training, but to tar them all with the same brush is just unfair....

Took car back to garage about the squeak and it was brake disc dust cover a little metal plate touching the discs.

He just bent it back and it's stopped squeaking.

You mean, apart from replacing it? 😀

Yeah apart from replacing it.

When I had spring done he said creak would stop as was it broken coil spring.

I see u can buy spray grease. Would this help it if I took wheel off lowered plastic cover down over shock absorber and spray it with grease.

The shock absorber is basically a sealed unit of a hydraulic ram, I doubt spraying anything on it externally will make any difference...

Could just be something as simple as the plastic surround on the strut?  Or it could be creaking of the steering rods or rack.
