Hi all

would anyone know if my focus engine has hydraulic tappets please, I know it has a cam chain as opposed to a belt, any advice would be appreciated

    The 1.8 / 2.0 Duratec HE engine has solid tappets without shims. The valve clearance is adjusted by replacing the complete tappet (which are available in about 50 different sizes).

    Many thanks Wilco, do you know at what service/mileage they need checking please, sorry to be so vague but I have only just acquired the car, it has service history from new but not all Ford and there has never been a mention of tappets, thats why I thought they might be hydraulic
