Ford Focus 1.8tdci 2003

Featured Replies

Hi sorry for new ie post but im at my wits end

got a 2003/4 focus 1.8tdci and the car cut out whilst driving on the motorway. AA rescued me scanned car and it said pump malfunction and fuel pressure too low. Long story short have a reconditioned pump fitted all the pipes and tank flushed as well as a new filter fitted. Car still wont start and the garage have told me there is a lack of pressure coming out the pump into the 4 way injector block in the middle of the engine. The diesel when cranking is literally coming out as if you was to turn a filter upside down which was full. I know these need to be at about 20/30 bar to start and there is no way its that coming out as it would should everywhere. Im guessing it could be a faulty pump as they showed me the fuel flowing fine through the pipes etc and they also mentioned theres more pressure coming from the return on the pump than there is the feed to the injector block. They also fitted a new cambelt and tensioner and assured me that even if it was not put on right (they used locking tools) the pump should still build up pressure
