Problems shifting into 2nd Gear

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased my first car, which is a 2013 Ford Focus 1.6TDCi. It was fantastic condition for the price, however, it does have 90,000 miles on the clock, which is a lot, i know. The gears were working fine, until recently.

Basically, when I rev up in 1st gear, all is well, I get to around 2500RPM in first and change into second and an come off the clutch and the car kind of jolts backwards a bit, nearly feels like engine breaking and the revs seem to drop lower than you would expect to hear/feel. I've tried revving a bit higher but still have the same problem.

All of the other gears after 2nd are fine. If I change gear very carefully at low revs I can change into second relatively smoothly.

Anyone any tips or idea what is going wrong. I'm praying it isn't something massive. Thanks all for the help.
