I have just repla`ced my faulty E.C.U with a second hand replacement  but now will not start because  engine imobiliserthe is active how do I deactivate the imobiliser

You can't easily.
The ecu, key transponder and dash cluster are all part of the immobiliser and have to match.
If you can get a key transponder and the cluster from the donor car then the car will start.
You may be able to get the ecu paired up but that's outside my expertise.
Others here may be more informed on the options/procedures involved.

I think the paid version of Forscan can do this, but as no-one else has offered advice, can I suggest you try asking on the talkford.com forum.
