Camshaft position sensor location

Featured Replies

Hi all

I bought a mondeo mk4 1.8tdci manual

It's a non runner

Maybe I was foolish buying this car as it doesn't start at all.

When I scanned it it comes up with camshaft position sensor P0341

Question is where is the sensor on the engine?

When turning the car over it sounds like no compression does that mean timing belt has gone and time to get a new engine?

I don't know on the mk4, but on tne mk3, if it comes up with that error code, and it's NOT the sensor, then it's trouble with broken cam carrier and valves. Why not look on youtube for can sensor position?  There's a common fault with the cam shaft..sonething to do with the woodruff key... something like that. I'll do some digging as it's round the corner of my memory...🤔

Bare in mind that video is for 2.0 TDCi which is a totally different engine to the 1.8 TDCi.

Also does anyone know where the camshaft sensor is on the 1.8tdci engine? I've searched all over the net and can't seem to find it.

Changed the sensor csr is still the same didn't make a difference.

Yeah, not surprised, it's the 1st thing anyone would change anyway, given the fault code. Take the rocker cover off and look for any loose bolts on the rocker, cradle damage, etc

Oh, and did you fit the sensor  far enough in the hole...all the way in then back it off slightly?

I haven't taken the cover off to have a look so I will do that.

Yes I did put the sensor all the way in and back again.
