Stop/Start MkV

Featured Replies

Partner has MkV (15plate) 2L Auto.

Can't get the Stop/Start to work. Thought it might have been a faulty battery but that has been replaced with a Stop/Start on specific for Mondeo from Halfauds. Still not working. I've read somewhere that it might be a fuse/relay issue. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi,  There can be numerous reasons why it does not work correctly. I always used to turn mine off every time the engine was started!!

As you know the battery must be tip top

It will not work at low engine temps. According to a Ford Specialist in undermentioned link the Battery Monitoring System needs to be reset if a new battery is fiited. I have known in a couple of cases that the central fuse box has required replacement

Have a read thru this link. There are other threads to be found on the Talk Ford site

Be happy its a chit funktion! Does not save fuel, just killing batteris

It does not kill the battery , if at any time the battery becomes slightly low the stop start automatically turns off.

When the correct battery is fitted it can easily cope with stop start. The batteries are not the same spec as vehicles without stop start.

Most importantly it is to reduce dangerous emissions/fumes when traffic is queuing/at a standstill in towns for example etc. We all know now that diesel emissions are a killer compared to petrol.

Having said that, I drive a petrol and always switch my stop/start off each time I start my car, ha ha
