MK3 Help Constant Mechanical Problems!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I would very much appreciate some feedback/guidance. I have a mk3 2011 Ford Focus Titanium 1.6tdci.. I bought the car in 2016 and for the first 2-years it seemed mechanically sound. From 2018 onwards. I feel like its been a money pit. Below is everything except servicing, MOT and the replacement Focus 2017 alloys I put on as the originals were buckled from pot holes.

22/02/2018   89,652       Replaced; Timing Belt, Water Pump & Auxiliary Belt      £791.00

27/03/2018   90,653       Replaced; DMF, Clutch Kit & CSC                                  £318.96

(This went suddenly with no signs of major wear, had just been serviced too)

22/05/2018   92,673       Offside Front Driveshaft Replacement                            £262.80

(Excessive vibration, felt like I was going to fall out the front passenger window)

13/09/2018   97,700       Near Side Driveshaft Replacement                                 £267.00

(Again excessive vibration, not as bad)

24/09/2018   98,020       Genuine Ford Heater Temp Control Sensor                    £65.00

(Done this myself, climate control was way off temp. Ford wanted £200!)

10/01/2020   105,000     All Injectors Replaced & Recoded                                   £1250

(Broke down, in the fast lane on a duel carriageway. The garage replaced 1 injector but couldn't get it running right. They spoke with Ford who told them al 4 would need replacing? Ouch!)

04/12/2020   113,000     Car is currently in the garage, due to excessive vibration

(Another drive shaft needs replacing today, they may do both if it doesn't fix the problem, I was told this morning they both have play in them)

The bill later today is not going to be pretty with a full service, 2 new tyres, track rod & bushes done & possible 2 drive shafts!

My questions are 1. what could have caused the drive shafts to have play and need replacing again after only  6,000 - 10,000 miles ? Never heard of this before, They said back in 18 it was strange they both went. 2. Do you think this is a lemon and abnormal ? Worst car I've ever had.

Cheers!
