Hi just wondering if anyone could give any pointers with a mk3 Mondeo 

 

The steering felt very odd so upon remove the wheel the anti roll bar has snapped out of the too connection I also noticed that the bottom of th shock absorber is just slightly touching the drive shaft causing a rubbing noise 

 

I've checked the passenger side and there is a good distance between the shock absorber and drive shaft 

 

Any ideas why this would happen also the nuts at the top under the bonnet are tight

What do you mean by

Weird! According to Mr Haynes, there's a tab on the strut to prevent/limit it from dropping that far down. 

Is that 3rd pic the droplink? 

I've had a look at this YouTube vid:

and there's definitely something missing from your strut that limits how far it goes into the knuckle. 

 

Hi the tab on the back of the strut to prevent the knuckler going to far is broken off slightly but is still there and does  prevent itsfrom going up to far  also the pinch bolt on the rear of the nuckle I've removed my self , but don't see how the strut is sitting on the drive shaft ?

Compare the position of the tab on tne strut in relation to the knuckle, with the other side. Have you got that tab on the top of the knuckle, or the bottom? Intriguing!
