Mondeo 2.0 TDCI opinions.....new member

Featured Replies

Hello

Hope you're all coping this Christmas and new year.

I live in France and have first refusal on a Mondeo 2.0 TDCI auto, 2008, 116000 km FFSH mint. Is this a good car? Any issues or pitfalls I should look out for?

It's a whole new world for me - my last Fords were Mk2 fiestas and my pride and joy at the time Capri 1600 GTXLR 1969, so I believe things have moved on!

Are the auto boxes solid and reliable and what servicing do they require?

Any info gratefully received.

Great to be aboard

Just re-eading that FiestaForever, is 116000 km (73000 miles or thereabouts) a fair few miles with regards to a recent Ford? I have 3 Renaults, the oldest of which (Clio 1990) has done 250000km and the second oldest (R21 1992)  has done 520000km. Have I been spoilt?? I would expect at least 250000km problem free from a "newish" car. Am I living in the past?

Cheers!

Depends on your age - I often do!😀

Joking apart, not owned a Mondeo myself but my mate has recently parted with the same version (but manual) after many years use and about 85,000 miles.  He reckoned it was the best car he'd had since his previous Mondeo (which he also had for years) and I don't recall him having any issues at all other than parking dings. Rode in it many times as a passenger - lovely comfy car.

He replaced it with a new Golf which he seems very lukewarm about and I strongly suspect a case of "buyer remorse" there!
