headlights always ON

Featured Replies

My Mondeo mk3 has started turning the headlights ON whenever the ignition is on. It makes no difference what position the light switch is in.

Anyone got any clues? I used to have a Volvo that had this function but it could be disabled, has the Mondeo got the same function and if so how to disable it.

Also below the glovebox fuse panel there is a relay and an empty relay socket, what are they?

Tony

Have a look at the fusebox info on the fordwiki site here:

Let us know if it helps or not 🙂

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the response, but the fordwiki like evrywhere else just shows the fuse/relay box and no reference to the relays below.

Hi, have you got folding mirrors?

Can you post a pic of the offending panel?

Have a look at this link... is it the powerfold mirror module..

Thanks Nick.

I don't have folding mirrors but that wiki does explain what one of the relays does.

This part of my post was pure curiosity, I still can't figure out why my headlights come on with the ignition and won't turn off with the light switch. This has only started within the last week.

You're gonna have to test the switch for starters*... or as it's easier to access, identify the relay and start with that.

*switches can fail 'on' as well as 'off'

The diagram shows the top relay in the engine bay as the low beam relay, K243.

I suspect the switch has failed though.
