Hi, I’m a newbie. Have enjoyed reading the sight for years. Currently swapped my 58 plate Mk2 1.6 tdci for an early 57 petrol 1.6 Mk1. More for what was available, at a cheap price rather than practicalities. 

On my hour drive to work can I, or is it worth swapping the gearbox from the tdci to the petrol. If that’s even possible.

just a question of economy, I’m an NVQ3 Technician but now have all the facilities and time with my new job.

Thanks in advance, haven’t even check gearbox to engine codes, might be a daft question.
