Blaupunkt Travelpilot FX not turning on after battery died and recharged

Featured Replies

Ford Mondeo mk4 1.8tdci titanium.  My battery went flat (car left unused in freezing temperatures). I got a recharge and a jump start and the car is working fine,  BUT the stereo radio sat Nav (blaupunkt Travelpilot FX)  is not turning on (blank screen / no lights behind buttons).   Is there some kind of reboot / hard reset to switch it on?

Those units don't have the best reputation for long term reliability, other than you doing a search online for "known issues" with this unit I've attached a grab of a post that details one of the known issues which happens to sound a lot like your issue.

Before worrying about if the head unit itself has died, have you checked the basic things such as the fuse that powers the head unit?

You might also want to get your battery tested to ensure it's still capable of holding sufficient charge AND can deliver sufficient cold cranking amps.

Thank-you for your help and reply.  To make sure I'm on the right track, should I be replacing Fuse 21 15amps in the passenger glovebox fusebox?

After all that, battery died again this morning so I replaced it with a brand new, more powerful battery from Halfords - and everything switched on,  including the Travelpilot FX, everything working normally.

So it turned out my head unit is working normally after all.

I did read elsewhere that the Travelpilot FX is “very sensitive to low voltage ” so perhaps it switched itself of or chose not to turn on sensing low battery power?

Thanks for your help regardless.
