Passenger front door won't unlock or lock except for inside

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Mondeo Mk 3 from 2002, hatchback Ghia. The passenger side front door won't lock or unlock either directly with key or fob. However it does lock and unlock okay if I do it from the inside of the car with the manual latch/switch on the door. So I can push the latch and it locks, or pull the latch on the door and it unlocks. All my other 3 doors work fine. The electric window works fine from my drivers side controls.

Anyone know if the problem is likely to be within the drivers door or the passenger door ? Also any idea what could be at fault ? I am a layman so don't want to start messing unless it is fairly obvious what it is 🙂 Every other person I have read about online with a non-locking Mondeo door also can't lock/unlock from inside, but I can so I presume my problem is different.

Also what size stereo is a 2002 hatchback Ghia Mondeo ? Is it 1 DIN, 1.5 DIN, or 2 DIN ?

Many thanks.

I have a 2004 Mondeo Estate TDCI and this works on my car.

Try resetting central locking programming. To do this place key in ignition and turn on and off four times quickly, listen for a beep, this tells you it’s in programme mode. Then press LOCK then UNLOCK on key fob. That’s all that has to be done to fix many door faults. Good luck with that.

What do you mean by

" I The passenger side front door won't lock or unlock either directly with key or fob "

Does your passenger door have a  slot for a key?

Sorry, what I meant by that was directly by key in to the drivers side for the central locking of all doors. So even inserting the key doesn't open the door, nor does pressing key fob button.
