Coolant hose identification

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2005 fiesta 1.4 zedtec which has a coolant hose that has a split in it and have tried fixing it with tape but without any joy but when I try to google to find the hose I just can’t find it there are lots of radiator hoses but this looks like it goes into the cylinder head so if anyone has a part number or the name of the pipe that would be great thanks

You never said whether it's petrol or diesel. Good job I could see the distributor and leads on the last picture.

Looks like finis no: 1547685

Distributor? 🤭

Is it sad that I knew it was a petrol from that green lambda plug. 😄

it looks like the bottom heater core hose

A brand new, genuine Ford hose is cheaper than that!

this was just an example, i wasn't actually suggesting to go for a second hand coolant hose

Hi could someone please tell me where all the core plugs are as I think it might be them instead of the head gasket as have a hissing sound coming from the engine while running but not exactly sure where it is coming from

My daughters car (2005 fiesta) has the same leak. She is saving to go to the Uk in December so am trying to save money for her and do the work myself (or avoid paying for it for her!!!)

Is there a video showing how to replace the tube anywhere?

I can just reach the split in the lowest part of the tubes underside but can’t see where it attaches to engine or the heater matrix.

i can’t see where it attaches at either end from above or below the car.

do I need to remove the engine cover to access fixing points etc etc?

Alternatively am I able to crimp this tube and not have heating? In Australia so don’t care for the heater.

Am I able to repair the hose?

Any help greatly appreciated.

The heater matrix bulkhead connection is shown in the final picture above.  They have a slightly awkward plastic clip, not a normal hose clamp.

The engine connection is under the coil pack.  You will need to remove the engine cover for access.  On this engine, the engine cover incorporates the air filter box as well.

The pipe can't be repaired.  You could try blanking it, but cooling systems are finely balanced through design so blanking the heater connection could reduce the flow rate through the engine, which could cause much bigger issues.

The hose itself only costs £50 brand new from Ford.  Or £20 aftermarket.  It really isn't worth bodging.

I can't imagine a garage would charge more than an hours labour to do this job, I doubt you'll be saving much by attempting it yourself.
