Power Issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys, after some help / recommendations.

My car a couple of weeks flashed up with an engine service now message, traction control light and limp mode. I took it to Ford under the warranty and they replaced the EGR Valve. I get almost home and I got the traction control light on and in to limp mode. The dealership took it back in the following day but couldn't find a fault. After various issues with Ford I'm not taking it back there.

It's been suggested it is a turbo issue or control module but I'm not sure. Has anyone else experienced this?

I can tell when it is going to happen as my exhaust gets louder and then the light/limp mode happens. It seems like it only happens if I drive the car above 2500 revs or when I've been driving a while and stop at a roundabout/junction as soon as I pull away it goes in to limp mode again.

Help :)

I am having simular fault

 limp mode ,ABS, Traction control.

RAC called out cleared fault then followed me home .

Fault reappeared after driving 15 miles at 50 mph+.Fault cleared again.

Drove 100 yds fault lights on again .

Free wheeling so I turned ignition OFF ON RESTARTED ENGINE   .

Driven 80 miles since without fault re accuring.

Unless you get a specific fault code we can't really help. Just saying you have an engine management light and limp mode means it could be anything.

I realise that without code it isn't a very good  post .

But how come turning ignition off / on then starting engine

Seams to have sorted the problem.

I have now driven 120 miles without ABS /TC or limp mode

Re accuring.

It depends how intermittent the fault is or what's causing it in the first place.

My late wife had the focus 7 years .

Less than 1k per year for 4 years. Hospital and shopping trips.

Now done 69k .

All I changed in that time was both snapped front coil springs  and noisey rear hubs .

As lockdown eased I  decided to have a go at clay pidgeon shooting.

Access was across a grass field it was a bit rutted but drivable. Thought I  may have disturbed an ABS sencer through extra front strut movement.

RAC CALLED OUT due to abs,tc limp mode .

When he put scanner on he said very Few  DTC recorded.

When limp mode came on again on way home he scanned again .

There was a lot of info on the screen that didn't make sence.

He said it could be the ECU failing .

I looked over his shoulder and saw some of the display as he flicked though the faults .

I did read bits about lost electrical connections

I asked him for a copy of the DTC Read out which he said he would e mail me.

HE DID NOT E MAIL THEM TO ME. So I  cannot act on or  give fault codes.

Also saying the info would be left on ECU for garage to read.

He cleared faults I  drove 100yds then it went into limp mode again showing abs and tc warning lights.

While free wheeling I turned ignition OFF ,ON ,STARTED ENGINE.

ALL FAULTS AND LIMP MODE CLEARED .

Since driven 145 MILES .

Without any faults.

Also reading about water ingress into wiring harness from screen washer pump or blocked window screen drains.

I had washed screen before parking up at shoot while car was facing up steapish hill.

So may have had water ingress causing a shorting out issue to ECU.

No further problems.

I have now driven 470 miles without any fault s being put on dash .

It may have been water ingress into the passenger side.

Causing intermittent shorting od BCM.

I washed windowscreen while car was parked forward facing on a steep hill possibly causing the issue .

Driven through very very heavy rain today without a problem.

Up date now driven 12miles with out this problem  re appertaining.
