Ford Focus Mk2 Won't Start! Black smoke, struggling to start, then dead.

Featured Replies

Hi, so, my car started getting smoky a few weeks ago - only a little bit.

Then it gradually got worse. I thought it might be time to do an oil change and to replace the injector seals too.

The smoking got even worse. I decided to change the fuel filter also... And it got worse! I decided to take it for a thrashing... and it got much worse.

After this, it struggled to start - I had to crank for about 5 seconds for it to start... a few days later, 10 seconds, then a few days later, only bump starting would work.

Now it won't start at all.

The EGR has been blanked off for years.

The DPF, well, that's not the problem either...

The turbo is solid and appears to be in good condition.

My laptop shows me that it isn't building up high pressure, but sometimes it does! Even if it does build up pressure though, the car still won't start.

There is blowback on the injectors, but would this stop the car from starting?

The problem was faulty injectors.
