AMBER ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT ON FORD FOCUS 1 6 TDCI

Featured Replies

Hi all i'm sure this has been asked before but can anyone help?

I have a focus titanium 1.6 tdci my engine management light came on a few weeks back, I got my dad to plug it into a snapon reader and the only faults coming up were to do with attempted entry to the car without being unlocked. Dad cleared them off but a few days later the light came back on. I decided to take the car to a local garage who plugged it in and said it needed a dpf senor which was replaced. The same night the light came back on so the next morning i took it back to the garage, they again plugged it in but said nothing came up. They cleared the light and told me to monitor it but to take it back if it comes back on. Picked it up today and tonight the lights back on.

The garage said the dpf is spotlessly clean and so is the pipe. They are stumped and dont know what else it could be.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi Bex, you are possibly not getting all the Ford specific DTC's.

You need to use a Laptop and connect to the OBDII port using an ELM327 lead and the software 'ForScan' then you will most probably see other fault codes.

Lead is from here :-  https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Software is from here :-  https://forscan.org/download.html

If possible use a laptop with windows 7.

I would suggest a reset, seatbelt secured, press brake and accelerator together, turn key to position two wait till warning lamp flashes, then see if fault clears.

The faults have already been cleared using a 'Snapon' code reader, but as Bex says
