Do the 2017 ST’s have many issues like the mk2 focus?

Featured Replies

For example leaking boots or stone blasted skirts and doors from design faults etc? I currently have a mk2 and it has those annoying issues and I want to get another focus (looking at mk3 sts) and don’t want to have more annoying issues like the mk2. I read the mk3 focus leak around the bumper but do 2017 onwards still have the same issues?

Unfortunately Ford use quite soft lacquer on their cars, you're always going to get a bit of stone chipping.

The most common issue I can think of are the LED sill plates failing.

I mean the mk2 had an issue where the lower part of car would get sand blasted. Assume they fixed this issue on the mk3 with side skirts or something?

the later mk3 Also don’t have the rain water leaking into boot issue then?

I wasn't aware of any such issue, my Mk2, 16 years old, 105,000 miles certainly doesn't display any such erosion...

Also, why are circa 2017 sts still £20k? surely that’s  overpriced? New ones are around 23k

Here's the thing, some eejit called Boris has introduced a ban on proper cars from 2030. Hence all existing used ones and interim new ones will maintain there value like nothing before. The market will be totally skewed. If you have a proper car right now, my advice - keep it...

You're joking aren't you? The mk2 ST's are worth peanuts compared to what they were 3 years ago! A pre-facelift model with under 100k can be easily found for less than £3,500 now. In fact, I saw a 2010 facelift ST-3 for sale with around 70,000 on the clock for £5,000 yesterday!

I was looking on auto trader for ones under 40k and they were as high as £12k

That's probably the owner/dealer trying it on by thinking it's mint condition due to the low milage. There's still far too many ST's around for them to be worth any money. The mk2 RS however...

Have a look around the 60-80k miles mark. There's an abundance of examples ranging from heavily modified to completly stock for around half that price.

The last mk2s are 10 years old now so the ones that have done 40k miles will be just as knackered as those with 100k miles.

Seem to be £8k to £9k still when I put max mileage at 80k. Still quite a lot. This is on auto trader
