Transmission fault

I own a Ford Focus zetec 2007 plate automatic. When I try to go over 60mph then car keeps on revving and doesn’t go higher, when I try to go faster it then shows transmission fault and the car goes slower again, any idea what the problem is?

    What engine?

    What automatic gearbox?
