Best way to remove water stain from fabric upholstery?

Featured Replies

After the weekend rain, placed wet hats, coats etc on back seat which have now stained. What is the best way to remove them?

See that Vanish foam you get for cleaning upholstery…not that.

My suggestion is to moisten the area with water, place a damp cloth over the stain and use a hot iron, evaporating all the moisture from the affected area until dry👍

I’d similar in my Vauxhall. Foam made it worse. Still stained to this day.

I’m not saying do this in case it does not work for you but on a previous car I solved this by making the whole piece of upholstery wet and the letting it dry

Guessing you don't have access to a wet vac?

None of the cheap foam cleaners seem to work.  A damp cloth is just as effective.

Kinda risky tho. Turn a small stain into a big stain 🤔

Well, we have a winner (almost LOL) No, I don't own a wet vac, but I do have a 'steam cleaner' bought from Lidl years back but rarely used as it's 250ml capacity is woefully small. Fired it up, a few very steamy passes, and left a couple of hours to dry. I really didn't want to use a chemical on it, as it was caused by water, and didn't want to risk damaging the fabric by applying unnecessary gunk!

You have to get a brush and feather over the affected area making the other area wet so it's blends in it's like the roof a total PITA.
