Combination of 1.5 ecoblue + powershift

Featured Replies

Hello friends,

I would like to kindly ask about reliability of a vehicle - Ford Focus "3.5" Titanium with 1.5 ecoblue coupled with six-speed powershift. Year is 2018 with something about 136000 kilometers.
I have heard rumors about powershift that its not too reliable and better to avoid it. Is somebody here with a car like this who can give me some advice about it or at least tell me something more about the gearbox please? 🙂

The Diesel version does not suffer from the same problems as the petrol version as it has wet clutches.

Keep the software updated (both PCM & TCM)

Thank you very much. And sorry for a late response. 🙂
I have bought the car and all I can say I am really satisfied. Fuel consumption, dynamics, gearbox is also good - I mean it changes gears smoothly. Right now I am thinking about SW upgrade of the gearbox.
Because what I dont like on it, is how it "holds" the engine on really low revolutions. At 50kph engine is about 1200 rpm which is really low in my opinion.

Also, like all wet clutch dual clutch boxes it is CRITICAL that the transmission fluid AND filter are changed as per the stated service interval.

In "D" the change points are set for economy, so it will change gear early.

In "S" it will change up at higher revs so may remain in 5th gear until 80KPH

Yes, keep both PCM and TCM software updated, and keep battery in good condition.

Change oil, using only Ford recommended oil, at the recommended intervals or less.

Never hold the vehicle on a hill on the clutches, press the brake pedal hard to ensure clutches disengage and don't sit in "D" stationary for long periods of time as that can damage the clutches too, knock it into "N" or "P".

A recommended modification is to clean the earthing points on the vehicle of paint and grease the main battery earth to the body and the transmission earth (Under the air cleaner box)

I've heard it is not recommended to do this with double clutch transmissions. Mostly for their mechatronics. Now I am confused. 😏 Try to search it on youtube channel "engineering explained." I've got it from there - standing with "D"
