Hi I wondered if anyone would be able to help me. I have removed the standard Sony facia and screen and installed the 5" screen Satellite Nav one. I fitted the head unit, Screen and facia all from the same car although it didnt come with a SD card. It is all working as it should but when i put the SD card in the slot (Ordered from Ebay) it says download press start but the start icon on the screen is blanked out and there is no way to select it as i am sure it isnt a touch screen and none of the radio buttons select it. I am pulling my hair out does anyone know what's going wrong, really appreciate any help someone can give me its getting very frustrating.

I don't know how the release of SYNC worked in Australia, but in the UK it there was never a sat nav unit that didn't come with SYNC. It's therefore pretty much impossible to fit the factory sat nav to a car that doesn't have SYNC.

If you have managed to get a sat nav unit without SYNC, then it should be a case of telling the car you now have a sat nav unit by using forscan. It will never work unless you do this.

The Sync 1.0 system was introduced in June 2012. Before the introduction of Sync the Focus MK3 did still have the old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. The MFD satnav system was available with both the old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol and the Sync 1.0/1.1 audiosystems. The satnav system is fully integrated info the FCDIM (display).

Retrofitting the MFD system is easy as long as the correct FCDIM is used. Changing the Central Car Configuration is recommended but not a necessity. The system will alsof work if the Central Car Configuration is not changed.

It is even possible to combine a MFD FCDIM with a Low Level audio system without any connectivity system.

Thanks all for your replies I have sorted it now and it is working. There was no need to program it. It was actually just plug and play. I was caught out by the line buttons on the facia didn’t realise that the Start on the screen was actually under the straight line symbol which is the button with the straight line on it on the bottom left of the facia. Pressed this and it downloaded and worked perfectly. Feel such an idiot but only just bought the car and didn’t realise the straight line buttons actually did something.
