MK2.5 Steering Column UJ replacement

Featured Replies

My 2010 MK2.5 1.8 Petrol is suffering from oddly heavier steering feel. Tyres and suspension have been checked and seem fine, but every now and again the steering feels a bit heavier than it should be. If I adjust the column's length or tilt it will loosen up a little, which makes me think the steering column UJs are getting sticky or tired.

From the look of it if I want to swap out the UJs then its impossible to do so without replacing the whole column. Am I right in thinking this? If so, what's the best way to lubricate the UJs on a replacement column to reduce the chances of it happening again?

I don't know the exact answer but i do know that the UJs were a problem on the Fiesta Mk7 (the model that came out in about 2008-2009) so googling that might reveal some advice on lubrication
