Are the ST250’s as tuneable as the st225?

Featured Replies

I’ve always wanted an st225 but as they are getting old now, I’m looking at st250s. Are they still quite tuneable and easy to get 300bhp plus out of them like the 225s were? I’ve been looking at the dreamscience stuff.

No. The 2.5L engine is quite underpowered from the factory, where as the mk3 ST is already tuned up pretty well for the size of turbo etc. You have to remember the engine is 500cc smaller, there's one less cylinder, and there's more emissions stuff in the way now.

Dont get me wrong, there's still a decent sized community for modifying the mk3, but it's nowhere near like the mk2.

If you want a cheap mk2 then look on some of the ST owners clubs online and on Facebook. I see a few posts a day about people struggling to sell their car.

There is a company that just sells focus sts but can’t think of there name, when I was looking in March they had loads and most all ready modified that was 225 and the 250s if I can remember the name I will post back

Seen a 2010 with 66k miles for £10,500. That about right? I want a late one with low miles and standard. only a few on autotrader, thought would be loads around as lots didn’t get driven as daily’s

That's far too expensive. I'd be putting a red carpet out for you on collection if you gave me that much for my 09 plate with 60k on the clock 😂

Like I say if you want a cheap mk2 then look on Facebook pages/ ST owners clubs. You should be able to get one easily for less than £8000 in that spec, more like £7000 tbh.

ST-Focus.com they’re in Crawley.

Just as easy to get 300hp out of them as it is on the mk2.

mk2 prices they’ll be a wide range, depends if you want low milage, standard, spec etc. Workmate bought a mk2.5 ST3, 30k, really nice condition for 10k last year, he was happy paying that as it was exactly what he wanted the car to be.

That’s the company mark  when I was looking they were 9k up, I sold my mk2 st about 5 years ago now but was pushing 320bhp very easy to get them up to that with only a few grand, cheaper if you get the parts second hand
