2016 Focus cuts out when low or full of gas

Hi guys. My gf has a 2016 focus. Recently got the p144a code a few times. Cleared and it stays away for long periods and sometimes returns.  
Symptoms: Car starts very roughly when we get gas and fill it.
Today when low on gas, (15 km range remaining), it slowly cut out and stalled.  Got some gas and took longer to start than usual, again.  
 

Any suggestions on the part that needs fixing? Is this common?

    Don't take the range remaining as gospel, you're practically running on fumes at less than 10 miles left.

    Ok thanks.  The other issues are still there. Let’s assume today was just a run out of gas situation.  However,  we put gas in, it was a “hard start” as usual.  I read a Ford document from 10 years ago or so with similar hard start problems on certain models.  Ours happens after fuelling up.

    Distance left is a rough estimation , it can’t be relied upon. And bear in mind when fuel is low the angle of the car will affect when it runs out of fuel depending whereabouts in tank the fuel pickup is.

    • Restricted fuel vapor tube between the FTP sensor and the fuel tank
    • EVAP purge valve stuck partially open
    Diagnosis:
    Check the fuel vapor tube for blockage between the FTP sensor and the fuel tank.
