Frowma
I've had my Focus (19 plate 1.5 ST-Line X estate) for just over a year now. It's a Ford direct car. Just for curiosity I did a We Buy Any Car quote a few weeks ago when I read that used car prices were on the way up due to new cars being hard to get a hold of because of the chip shortages.... Anyways...the first price was £17,750, then after that expired they came back with £18,500, that one expired and they came back with £20,000 and the most recent is £20,280. Now...I'm not naïve enough to think that is the price I'd get but considering I paid £21,250 in July last year I was pleasantly surprised that I might get something close to £20k if pushed. DonnyMark
The webuyanycar value of mine is currently £2,500 more than I paid a dealer in May, not all cars are increasing though, my mates newer Puma has decreased by £2,000 since he bought it more recently. isetta
I do not know anyone who has sold car to we buy any car. Does anyone get the quoted price? Or do they always refuse to pay that when they see it due to real or made up defects? I found out the other day that we buy any car and cinch are part of same company - constellation group, also includes British car auctions I believe
Mark-UK
I sold my 15 year old 110K mileage Nissan Micra to We Car back in April 2019 , they looked for any dints or broken bits, and checked the depth of the paint so see if it had been repaired, if I remember correct the offer on the day was quite a lot less than the online quote, but more than fords trade in. Now I'm 100% positive I would have gotten more if I sold privately, but I'd had the car from new and was in the opinion I'd had my moneys worth no matter how much I got. I wanted a change due to things going wrong with it ( suspension spring snapped, drive shaft broke in half) I only got £150 for it, but what really pee's me off is that due to covid I was made redundant and now early retirement so hardly use my car at all and the Micra is still running Tax till June 2022 and MOT till September 2021, in hindsight I wish I'd kept it and save the near £20K I paid for my Focus.
Bob28809
I just got rid of my 2015 seat leon fr 2.0 tdi. Got £7500 with 74000 on the clock (i thought this was good for part x as trader said value was £6400)and bought a 2020 focus st line 1.5(150). This was 2 weeks ago, i paid £16200 for the focus with 14000 miles, which was a pretty good deal on autotrader but had to travel 200 miles to swap them. When i got to the ford dealer he said they had a waiting list of 6 months for new cars. When i checked the other day 2019 focus’ with more miles than mine were no less than £18000. Anything thats a commodity at the moment seems to be rising in price and with the lack of ecu and tech chips around new and couple year old cars are getting hard to find. Great if your selling your car but not great when your buying one. 😁
StephenFord
For a laugh, I did a valuation quote just now, apparently my car is worth, £150 LOL They obviously didn't take into account she has a full fuel tank!
TomsFocus
Motorway.co.uk is a better selling site. They give you a 'realistic' price alongside the valuation, based on the average of what the company actually paid for similar cars before. WBAC will always drop the price from what I've read. £150 seems pretty good considering they wouldn't be able to sell anything of that age to the trade, though I suppose they do have to offer to buy ANY car. Anyone scrapped a car lately? I have no idea how much a 1500Kg car gets in scrap nowadays?
