What should I pay for Cam belt and water pump - 2011 1.6 Focus?

Looking at one of these, super low mileage 1.6 with only 57,000. However while it has excellent service history / parts, it does not seem to have had cam belt changed.

My understanding is both cam belt and water pump should be changed at same time at either 10 years or 100,000 miles?

What should I expect to pay get this done? Can I wait a while and get done later and if so how long before I get it done?

No-one knows how long you can wait, that's why the recommended intervals err on the side of caution.  It might snap on the drive home.  It might last another few years.

Cost around £400.  I'd be asking for a bit of discount to cover it.

Thanks, just looking for a ball part figure. Also seems to have a minor exhaust gas leak 6.1.2 at MOT. Although they will be giving a new 12 month.

If you have the water pump change done with a cheap one, the cheap one might fail before the original one would have done. So bear that In mind if changing water pump when there’s nothing wrong with it.

I payed £370 about 2 years ago for that job on A simialr car. I would ball park around £400. Best bet ring around 2-3 garages for a qoute.

We had a 1989 reg Peugeot 405, purchased in 1990, it had 11,000 miles on the clock when we got it, eventually reaching 89,000 miles on the clock, the cam belt was changed in 2003, garage who did the belt change said the belt was in perfect nick with no cracking or bits of rubber missing at all and could have lasted many more years without worry.
