Retrofitting parking sensors

Featured Replies

I am in the process of buying a Focus hatchback 1.5TDCI. It doesn’t have parking sensors ….should I fit them? And any advice please?

Our used Mk2.5, that had been a motability car, came fitted with an aftermarket system by Xvision.  It's available in two versions, one with just an audible warning and another with audible and visual on a separate display. Ours is the audible-only version and I find it does the job perfectly well.

You could probably get the Ford system retrofitted but an aftermarket system is going to be by far the cheapest solution.

Should you fit them? I'd say yes, having now had two cars fitted with them I wouldn't want to be without them. 😀

I have retrofitted the rear ford sensors to my partner's MK3 focus.

It was relatively easy following the guide on this forum and I was fortunate that I found the wiring loom along with the sensors quite cheaply when I did it.

Aftermarket will most likely be easier as retrofitting the ford sensors means the car will need reprogramming too.
