MK3 water leak through the roof

Featured Replies

Hi,

Water ingress through the vent in the rear of my MK3 estate boot. Comes in the left side only (driver's side) it goes down into where the fuses are as well. Insulated with red silicone the bolts of the boot spoiler, the welded joins, the joins beneath the plastic roof rails and still water keeps coming in.spacer.png

It's driving me nuts.

Any ideas how to stop this? Thanks in advance.

I had the same on my mk3 focus estate. In the end, I took the roof rails off and cleaned out all the crud that had built up underneath it. I then discovered very small cracks in the original sealant. I cut this out and re-sealed with silicone and it's been dry ever since.
