Ford focus at temperatures above 23 degrees is capped

Featured Replies

I have a friend who has a ford focus year 2009 with 1.6cm diesel and about 1 year old has the following problem:
-When the outside temperature rises above 23 degrees the car is capped, ie it can't exceed the speed of 80km although the acceleration is up to the floor if it stops with the car and lets it cool down a bit, it can go with it from Not up to 140-150km but not for long as it makes him the same problem again and the 'Engine Malfunction' error appears on the board every time
-He went to several mechanics and each time they told him something else, one told him that he was on board and he opened the board and sent him to check it and the respective repairman said that he repaired the board but after he put the board Back he found that the problem was not solved and he also found that he can no longer connect with the tester that has it, a delhi ds 150, which until before sending the board went.
-Another mechanic after putting the tester (another type of tester not like his) said it is defective, turbo geometry solenoid valve, intake manifold pressure sensor and changed these parts and the same problem, please if you can help us.

Thank you

Hi Ady, I think perhaps your friend has a British engine, we don't have tempratures over 23C so the engine would be fine here 🤣

Your friend needs to use a laptop computer and the software called Forscan to check for Ford specific DTC's

You get the software from here;  https://forscan.org/download.html

You will also need an ELM327 lead:  https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Has your friend tried fitting a new Air Filter ?

So Ady, I see you have been back to the forum 1 hour ago, and I assume you read my post. is there anything you would like to say ?

It was 30C here yesterday but it had no effect on the running of the engine.

We were unable to make any checks because my friend is away.

All I could hear from my flat yesterday was cooling fans at full speed going up and down the road, drowning out any engine, exhaust or tyre noise...how do they make so much noise!!  It was a welcome break for the odd whine of an EV to pass!
