I have joined mainly to help out my son. He has ADHD so doesn't do many online forums. I have bought him a 2010 Focus for his 1st car. There are a few niggles I'd like to get sorted for him.

The stereo is the Ford Sony one. There is a BT module above the glovebox. A USB/Aux (which don't seem to work) & 12V socket which is powered in the centre console.

Radio works fine on DAB etc but when you hit the PHONE button all it does is MUTE the sound.

Anybody come across this before.

Cheers

Matt

The same question was asked about the mk4 mondeo (which uses the same stereo).

Basically my answer was the Bluetooth module is so old it doesn't support music streaming. However, it appears your module looks new enough to support it (I think).

If the aux/usb isn't working then I suspect you have a faulty bluetooth module as that's where they are fed to. Try unplugging it, leaving it for 30 mins, plugging it back in and try to use it again.

Hi Matt,

Welcome to fordownersclub.com, I'm Lenny I've been on here since 2010 and have gathered a lot of knowledge over the years as well as owning a 2010 Ford focus myself,

what spec is the focus? for example "style" "Zetec" "Zetec-S" will help us to know weather that Sony head unit was a factory fit,

there's a good chance that a previous owner fitted that Sony to upgrade the standard 6000CD unaware that the Bluetooth module is synchronised to that specific head unit by ford, so although physically connected the head unit wont communicate with it until its told to, much like installing a new piece of hardware on your desktop computer or laptop it needs a driver update to function.

all said then; if you do get it functioning which will cost you a trip to ford to be fair; the Bluetooth of 2010 doesn't support music streaming, it only allows basic voice control and phone calls, it wont ever stream music through the head unit,

personally I've gone for an aftermarket head unit, and removed the 12v socket from inside the arm rest; fitted a replacement 12v socket sized USB port and HDMI input socket interface which are connected in to the rear of the aftermarket head unit,

plug in a NowTV stick or Amazon Fire, use your mobile phone as a wifi hotspot.

hope this was of some help also here's my list of guides all done on a 2010 focus mk2.5:

Thanks chaps. I'm not too bothered about the streaming to be fair. Just to get the BT working would be great so he could contact us easily or answer a call if needed.

Len It is a 2010 Titanium 1.6 Auto. All the toys, heated seats, DAB,keyless etc

I will try the disconnect and reboot method. I have a Double Din Kenwood in the garage that I had in my X-Trail that I scrapped so if it going to start costing money I think throwing that in it would be a better option. It has DAB,Sat Nav, BT etc so he wouldn't lose out even though it is a few years old.

Thanks again
