Mk3 hill assist.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, you may remember me from when I had a 2005 Mk2 1.6 Ti-VCT asking if premium fuels makes a diff.

Well anyway heres me asking about the hill start assist.

I have recently bought a 2011 1.6 ecoboost 148hp titanium. And it has the hill assist. My problem is that it holds far too strongly. There is a loud clunk when it finally releases and the car literally shoots off the line like its doing a launch drag race start.

I know some of you may say go to a dealer, but I was wondering before I do, for any information about how best to handle it. By this i mean is there a delay in how you hold the throttle position and clutch whilst hill start is engaged? Because I kinda force it to release by pressing more gas and a slightly higher bite as it grinds (and I dont wanna wear the clutch out)

So is it place normal positioning as on a flat and wait? I'm asking as theres not many hills in the area to really test it (I practically live on the Somerset levels)

Thank you.

In my opinion the best way to handle hill start assist is to switch it off in the settings and just use the handbrake.

Hi, there is no option in settings to switch it off. Thanks.

On my 2012 it was in the settings on the information display between the rev counter and the speedo.

Settings - Driver Assist - Hill start assist (untick the box).

Ah thanks, I dunno why i couldnt see it before (I swear I was looking for it.) Somehow must have skimmed over it.

Thanks man. I've always just used the clutch before with no problems why manufacturers think people need help? It'll only serve to make people even worse as a driver with all these assists.

Its off, cheers. Thread over.
