I'm confused, is it a USB socket you have, or a round socket? Round socket is usually an AUX in socket for your head unit. Don't be afraid to post a photo!

It's the aux in socket as stated next to the USB port. So you can plug an mp3 player or your phone from the headphone port using a 3.5mm stereo connector. 10 years ago playing audio through usb or streaming Bluetooth audio was still quite new so the option of aux in was still there.
