Temperature gauge

Featured Replies

Hi all new to forum. I have a 2008 1.8 petrol duratec he engine in my focus. Not sure if this is normal but when I pull off from cold the temp gauge rises to half way within around 20 seconds. I'm also averaging 38mpg with mostly motorway miles changed plugs and set them to 1.3mm is that right. Some owners have set them to 1mm.

Hi Shen, the MPG sounds about right for a 2008 Focus with a 1.8 petrol engine.

If your temprature is going from 0 to half way in only 20 seconds something is wrong. Possibly a faulty thermostat and also when did you last replace the coolant? It needs to be a mix of 50/50 Ford coolant and water.

Hi thanks for reply good to know about mpg. Not sure when coolant was changed. Was told it could be the coolant sensor but don't know where that nor the thermostat is to change. What should the gap on the plugs be.

1.143mm to 1.270mm is normal
