Nightmare with all sorts of lights on dashboard

Featured Replies

Recently changed the gasket manifold seals (I know nothing about cars by the way, my mate knows more). Now I've got ABS light and engine managemtns light on. Plugged the diagnostic thing in and it came up as speed sensor. I am trying to find one online but I don't really know what I'm looking for. I read that gear shifting can be a bit rough with a faulty sensor and I do struggle to get it in to 2nd from 1st and have to almost stop to get it in 1st from 2nd - could this be the sensor faulty?

Also, the ABS light came on shortly after doing the gaskets and the engine management light a few days later after accelerating hard.

I'll try and give more info if you need it but don't know what else to put at the min. I have a Ford Focus 2006 Diesel Hatchback 1.6 TDCi FWD II DA_,DP,HCP 1560cc 66KW 90HP GPDA;GPDB;GPDC;HHDA;HHDB

Thanks 🙂

Ah that explains why you've suddenly invented "gasket manifold seals" 😂 (a gasket is a seal btw). It makes as much sense as saying "lift door elevator".

I'm assuming you've changed either the exhaust or intake manifold gasket? I don't see how either of those would affect the ABS sensors which are located by the hubs.

Did the scanner tell you which sensor is bad?

On a manual gearbox I can't see how the 2 relate. An auto box will probably get confused if it doesn't know what the current speed is.

Yeah that's the one..the intake manifold gaskets 😅 I don't know how they would be realted but just by googling it that's sort of the problem I got (all different kinds of advice etc). It's just weird after doing the gaskets I got those 2 lights appeard on the dash.

I'll have to plug the diagnostic back in.

I would suggest that you should let someone with car 'know how' investigate. Making a connection between a flat battery and a flat tyre just because they are both flat is not a good idea.😟

I think you're right.  I can still drive it at the moment so nothing drastically wrong with it....yet😂
