Ford focus Dash light won't go off battery draining

Featured Replies

Ford focus 1.6 petrol 2010.

Inspiration needed please..... I know a little about cars but this has stumped me so far... The car was working fine until the battery went flat. So as it was the original one I put a new one in. Within a couple of days it had flattened the new one. So then I got my brother with his multi meter to go through the fuse box and it seems that the car stereo and the instrument panel was drawing power. So I took the stereo out and replaced it with a basic unit not linked to the steering communication. I read it may be an issue with the ignition not realising the key was withdrawn thus keeping the ecu active all night. So oiled the key and jiggled it about to no avail. Then I replaced the ignition switch, which did not solve the problem. Then I did a forscan reading and it came up with U1900 - 60 bus communication error I think. I read that  peoples blutooth activation box was an issue with some owners so I fought with the well designed torx in the bracket and unplugged this again to no avail.... I am now thinking it may be the solder in the PCB behind the dash control panel. If I can get a second hand PCB can it be reprogrammed to the car by an independent garage or have ford got the monopoly on this?

Any other ideas what it could be?

The solder joints can go dry. Easy enough to reflow the joints if you're handy with a soldering iron rather than replacing the cluster (which will just develop the same issue in a few years time anyway).
