Mud Flaps

Featured Replies

I was looking at a set of rears on ebay- they come with some clips and also what look like some plastic rivets- how do the flaps actually attach, please? Are they held on by the screws already in the arch liners? What are these other things I'm seeing on ebay?

The only mud flaps that fit correctly are the genuine Ford ones. I've tried some from ebay that are supposed to fit but never do - I wouldn't waste your money.

They were actually Ford ones that I was looking at, but I was was looking at the wrong model- the ones for the Mk8 appear to just have an adhesive strip and nothing else, is that right?

That can't be right.  They'd get blown off at the first puddle you drive through.  They usually use metal slide clips if not using the original arch liner screws.

Again, a listing has mislead me- the ones I saw had no other fixings pictured, but these do- sticky strip , and clips-

That's one hell of an eBay link you posted above 😀

Just for future reference you only need to post the first part of the link up to the  '?' the rest of the link is just so eBay can track what you're doing and spy on your searches.

So it is! Thanks!

These Ford ones are correct. The adhesive strip only makes the seal between the mud flap where it overlaps onto the bodywork. The mud flaps are held on by a mixture of original wheel arch fittings and clips. I've had a complete set on my Mk.8 for about a year with no problems whatsoever. The front flaps do a good job of preventing a lot of mud etc. collecting at the bottom of the doors.

I have sent for a set of rears, and will see how I get on...

You will need to remove the rear wheels to fit these flaps - it's amost impossible otherwise.

I have fitted both front and rear Ford genuine mud flaps on mine. I didn't have to remove my wheels to fit the rear ones on with the clips

Well, two very different opinions there! Still waiting for mine to arrive, then I'll see how it goes. Hopefully it is pretty evident how/where the clips go?

Right! My rears arrived this afternoon and...

Both were on inside of ten minutes with absolutely NO need to remove the wheels. Clean the surface, offer up to get the feel of the location, then peel the tape, pop it on, and push the four clips per flap on by hand. They feel nice and secure and look just like I wanted them to. Sorted!

Good, I'm glad you got them fixed. I don't know why I had so much trouble fitting the rears on mine!

I decided to fit fronts as well! However, overnight they jumped from £32-something to £46-something on eBay, but luckily I found them still at the cheaper price on Vospers. Put them on today, nice and simple, sorted!

Don't just think your car is protected after fitting mudflaps! The crap that builds up behind them can be shocking and this filth is when the roads get salted heavily, so the muck will stay wet and can/will cause corrosion, i take my mud flaps off once a year and thoroughly clean everything.

I wanted the rears just for how they looked, so I'm under no particular illusions about protection, and will bear in mind what you said cheers.

I had the genuine Ford ones on my white 2018 Fiesta ST (same bodykit as ST-line).

Fit very well and did the job nicely.

Hi alexp999,  Just wondering if your still out there?  I was wondering how you managed to fit the mud flaps to your ST? All the adds mention that they will not fit a fiesta with side skirts. Thanks for any help in advance. 🙂
