Sync 3 total failure

Featured Replies

Help please. 2016 Mondeo Vignale, 32k on the clock. Went out to it yesterday and find the sync 3 screen blank. USB ports not lighting up, even the ambient lighting has gone unless I open the doors. I have tried all the following but with no success: battery fully charged. Battery disconnected for half an hour. Checked fuse 32 OK. Tried soft reset. When doing that, the only thing that happens is the USB ports light up for a short while but still don't work. There is an update available for my sync but I can't do it when the USB ports aren't working! Any ideas or does it sound like the module is gone?

Did you try a BCMii and APIM reset?

I've tried multiple BMS resets. How do you do Apom reset?

BCM reset is very unlikely to do anything as it's not really linked to the media system. The APIM is the brains of the Sync unit.

To reset the APIM is a similar process to resetting the BCM, you do it through Forscan.

Hi Robert as @Jonro2009 has said try using FORScan and reset the APIM

You also need to be careful when typing. BMS = Battery Monitor Sensor / BCM = Body Control Module

Apom not sure but maybe something a cheerleader uses ? 🤣

I didn't even realise he had typed BMS - good spot.

I ignored the APOM as a autocorrect attempt lol..

My autocorrect used to change Tayna to Tanya every ***** time and I never even noticed 😂

OK thanks guys. I don't have Forscan so I guess I'll have to get Ford to do it. I'm hoping it's not gonna be a replacement module, but luckily I have extended warranty if I need it!

Download FORScan for free: https://forscan.org/download.html
