Cylinder 3 misfire

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new here and have a question I've got a 2016 focus ecoboost 1.0 and recently had the cam belt done at only 67k also had to change the turbo due to Cambelt skipping and missing some teeth but thought the turbo was bad so I change the turbo 3 months later the cam belt jumped so had ford do the Cambelt and they said it has a misfire on cylinder 3 and that the turbo was bad again I've put a new turbo on it again and still have the misfire I've also done a comparison test and have 110 psi on all 3 cylinders and have swapped the coil packs around to no joy I'm also smelling fuel from the exhaust could I have dropped a valve on the exhaust side for it to cause this?

Hi welcome

Hello Daniel, you will probably get more help/answers if you repost your question in the FOCUS forum.

Regarding the 1.0 ecoboost, once problems start with them very few ever seem to get properly repaired. Did you have a Ford main dealer replace the wet timing belt and wet oil pump belt ?

I think you have a common problem that your previous belts started to disintergrate and clogged up the oil sump pick-up.  Some small particles of rubber have made it past the filter and are now suck in a second filter which is deep inside the engine, this second filter supplies the turbo with oil and can become blocked causing oil starvation.
