Focus MK4 - Street legal high beam retrofit?

Featured Replies

I have a 2019 Ford Focus MK4 with the factory LED package. All exterior lighting is LED except the low beams (H7) and high beams (H1).

I installed homologated OSRAM LED H7 bulbs for the low beams and they work perfectly. However, I failed technical inspection because the H1 high beam LEDs are not homologated.

The problem is that I can’t find a legal/homologated H1 LED solution for this car because:

a) most H1 LED bulbs don’t physically fit inside the housing,

b) the homologated ones seem to be approved only for low beam applications, not high beams on the Focus MK4.

Has anyone found a legal solution for the H1 high beams on the MK4 Focus?

I’d appreciate advice from anyone who has passed inspection with this setup in Croatia or elsewhere in the EU.

You need to search for:

H1 LED 360 degree Fan less

And it will sit in the holder correctly

Just bear in mind that being fan less they won't last years but you don't use High Beam that much

It's either that or off road 100 watt H1 Halogens

I already have them. The problem is that they are not road legal.

Just put standard bulbs back in for MOT then.

You will only pass with Halogens, so your only other option is off road 100 watts as mentioned

But in that case I spent the money for nothing 😅

Does anyone know which adapter fits for H1 led lights?

Edit:

Is this the right adapter?

From experience I found no adapters worked, that's why I recommended fan less as they fit directly, like Halogens

In the end I got Philips Ultinon Pro6000 Boost gen 2 and I designed my own adapter.
