Fiesta towing weight.

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a mk7 1.0 Ecoboost and would like to know the towing weight limit for towing a trailer. Does it make a difference if the trailer is braked on not?

Allan

550kg unbraked, 900kg braked.

Excellent thank you. Can I ask where you found the information? I thought I'd looked everywhere!

Again many thanks. I've seen the two things above but not seen any reference to braked or unbraked.

iantt, are you able to tell me where the unbraked figure came from please?

Allan

I'm not 100% sure but the weights may be listed on the v5c document.

Depending on the year. If it’s anything like the focus then Ford do not recommend towing unless you have the electric pump fitted to help cool the turbo after engine shutoff.

I think the fiesta does because sometimes coolant does continue to flow round the system after engine shut-off. Or it does on mine at least.

It just depends on the year, Ford didn't fit them early on, they were added later.

It'll be in your owners Manual. Any vehicle (if rated to tow at all) can tow upto 750kg unbraked. Any weight over 750kg, (if the vehicles rated to tow more) has to be braked. It'll state this in thw Manual and you can go off the gross weight, and gross train weight figures given on the vin plate. Personally on a small light car like the fiestas I would also fit brakes to Any trailer regardless if towing less than the unbraked limit, as its much safer and pits less strain on the vehicle and stops the vehicles brakes wearing down quicker

Indeed, but your 3 years too late to the party 🎉
