Tourneo Semi Automatic transmission fluid change

Featured Replies

I have a 2016 Tourneo Semi Auto , Powershoft....Catch 22! The cost is approx £350 every 3 years just to do transmission fluid change with main dealer. Smaller garages can't do it because of the level of speciality Ford have built in! Does anyone have experience with possibly extending period if only doing low mileage?

It's fairly easy to do, google it or look on You Tube.

Here is a thread from Talk Ford

Many ordinary workshops will do it. I do my own.

Labour time is not very much, the main cost is the price of genuine oil and I would not use anything else.

You should find lots of "independent" Ford specialists will do it, they do in my area anyway - it is not rocket science, an independent should do it for say £180 to £230 but again it depends on oil price more than anything. I would say an hours labour (actual working time) is about right

Main dealer quotes £350, so thanks for the info. The issue seems to be with specialist tools?!?

Not sure what specialist tools anyone would need, a socket set, and an oil suction pump as I believe there is no drain plug (quite normal for Ford).

While it is very nice to change the transmission fluid every 3 years, I thought the actual suggested intervals was every 36000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first.

Getrag Powershift DCT450 oil and filter is every 3 years or 37,500 miles, whichever occurs first.

No special tools required

There are 3 drain plugs on very early transmissions, approx 2009/2010, later ones only have 2.

Reason for more than one drain plug is that internal trans compartments vary in height
