Can I fit Cruise control to my 2014 Focus Ecoboost 1.0 100HP?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

First post so iI'l try to make it quick. I recently picked up a nice little Focus (as listed) but was a little disappointed it doesn't have cruise control fitted. (My mistake for not looking in the first place properly...!!).

My obvious question is can I retrofit the ford one if I get one with the controls fitted? (I'll rephrase that and ask can I fit the one I've bought with the controls fitted..!!). After removing the air bag centre from my existing steering wheel, I can see I will need to modify the wiring to include the cruise control module on the can bus. There are other cables in this module that I think are for internal lighting on the switch cluster.

does anyone have a wiring diagram for this cluster (I.E. colour codes/to what ..?)

Hope this makes sense and some one can point me in the right direction.

Thanx in advance,

Alex.

OK, scrap that ..!! I think the best thing I can do is get the correct controls/airbag panel for the new steering wheel. (Ordered).

My next question is will my ECU pick up the changed hardware and adjust accordingly?

Best regards,

Alex.

I'm almost positive that it won't do it automatically, and you'll have to do some fettling around with settings in ForScan to activate it... @unofix or @tomfocuswill be along shortly to possibly advise!

Correct.  You will need to tell the car about the hardware changes.  2014 is an awkward year for enabling software changes in the Focus though.  Could be too late for FoCCCus or too early for ForScan.

Thanks Guys for your replies. I have read/watched what to do with forscan to get it to pick up the hardware changes. I can only "Have a go" and see what happens when I get all the kit together and fitted.

OK guys,

Cruise fitted and working ...!  Thanks again for your help.

I have some new questions that I need to investigate further so I can ask the right questions ...!! Namely, I am unsure if my A/C is working.

I'll include my original download from the cruise control install as it may tell you guys where I need to look (I think it says it cant communicate with the HVAC module..?).

Any help from you guys appreciated.

Thanks again,

Alex.

I used to get that on my car when I used the ELM327(modified) cable. Since I've been using the vLinker FS adapter I don't get that problem anymore but I do have a DTC B1088 63-0A in the HVAC that I can't get rid of.

Make sure that when you try and connect up, that the Climate is on and set to auto.
