Map update for Sync3

No usb and bluetooth stuttering, a dark mode that is actually black and an apim config that matches the version of sync. Running 3.4 on older apim will have a couple of missing features and bugs (like gps clock getting out of sync when off etc).

Using Fords website, i managed to update the SYNC 3 to version 3.0 (using a USB drive) which took many hours of failed attempts but in the end successful.
Then I set about updating the maps, again using the map update from Ford. Successfully downloaded the map update onto a USB drive then moved out to the car to install. Everything appeared to be going well until I got a screen on my cars display saying 'KEY CYCLE REQUIRED' which I thought to mean that I had to switch off the car and lock the doors and wait for 2 minutes in order to continue to stage 2. This process went on and on and on until I realised that I was just replacing the same part of the update continuously, eventually giving up thinking there was an error somewhere in this process.
I was chatting about this experience to a trusted friend who told my that he had the same experience a while ago and suggested that I use a 3rd party App from C---labs called Syn3updater, which reluctantly I did. Wowww, I updated my cars SYNC 3 system as follows.....
SYNC 3 version 3.3 Build 19052
Navigation maps version F12

So, now that my Ford is up-to-date, can we now update Fords records accordingly so that I can receive further relevant updates from Ford in the future?

Any idea?

My understanding is that once you move to c—-labs the Ford system won’t work properly for you.

I was having big issues trying to update my maps using Fords website, so gave up. Then i learned about Cyanlab and used their update which worked. My issue is that using Cyanlabs update does not create the file on my USB stick that has to be returned to Ford. As Ford are not aware of my upgraded map they will continue to send further updates by way of internal wi-fi, which are outdated. I need to inform Ford of my new F12 map status.

Don’t think you can do that because Ford do not agree with the CyanLabs system being used. That’s one of the reasons I have never used it, despite the issues with using the Ford system

Maybe if Ford were to release updates quicker and also clearer installation instructions, then maybe people wouldn't need to use a 3rd party app. The reason i turned to the 3rd party is that after a few minutes of updating the maps with the Ford update, onscreen i got a message "KEY CYCLE REQUIRED" which i mistakenly thought i had to get out the car and lock doors etc... Now i know that this first "KEY CYCLE REQUIRED" instruction should be ignored and seconds later the update would continue on its own.

If you’ve used cyanlabs you are on an unsupported version for your car so there is no point trying to upload anything to Ford. It won’t work.

Yep - as Alex said, once you have used Cyanlabs on Sync 3 you are out of Ford's cycle and will have to use Cyanlabs for any future map updates / installs.
