Don't hate me for asking about rear view cameras

Featured Replies

I know there are a few questions already about rear view cameras but I couldn't find the answer amongst them so excuse me for asking but...

Ford Focus with sync 3 - I've fitted a non genuine rear camera and a harness adapter behind the head unit.

I've taken a live feed from the permanent live on the rear wiper motor so it doesn't interfere with light warning lights and this is giving me 14.2v engine on. An engineer used Fordscan to change the settings to *3 as there are no other parking aids.

When I engage reverse, the screen goes blue and after a very long pause, 'camera not available' appears.

I know that it is possible to fit and use non genuine cameras with original head units - I've seen them working but does anyone know where I may have gone wrong? The camera is fine, I tested before fitting - has anyone any experience with the head unit harness adapter? as it seems the most likely cause of the issue.

Thanks
